SATYENDRA SINGH GOINDI M.Sc; LL.B; ND (DOB -24.10.1929)

1. Doctor Satyendra Singh Goindi was born on 24.10.29 in a Gandhian family. His father, Late Sardar Bhagwan Singh Goindi (popularly known as Sialkot Gandhi), a freedom fighter, founded the Gandhian Khadi movement in Punjab after resigning Government service in 1921 at the call of Mahatma Gandhi.

2. After the partition of India in 1947, Goindi family moved from Sialkot (Pakistan) to Allahabad (India). Dr. S.S. Goindi completed his M.Sc. (Maths) and LL.B from AllahabadUniversity by 1954.

3. After a stint (1955-56) as researcher in the All India Congress Committee at New Delhi in the subject of land reforms and related legislation in various states of India and as secretary incharge of Gandhian constructive work of PEPSU Congress Committee at Patiala (1956-57), he joined family at Allahabad where members of his family were engaged in social and 18 point Gandhian Constructive Programme.

4.  Dr. (Mrs.) Gurkirpal Kaur Goindi was born on 25.01.1932. After her graduation (B.A.) from PunjabUniversity in 1951, she obtained a Diploma in Physical Education (DPE) from Punjab Education Department in 1952. She qualified as a teacher (B.Ed) from DelhiUniversity in 1954. She started her career as a teacher of Physical Education in Delhi in 1952 and resigned in 1968 when she was taken ill.

5.  During her schooling, she became a pioneer in mastering Indian Martial Art, known as “Gatka” in Punjab at the age of 15 years. She joined Theosophical Society while still a teenager and became the President of the Youth Wing in Delhi in the mid fifties. She was commissioned as NCC Officer amongst the few girls in India opting for military training, in the early years of India’s freedom from British rule. Dr. (Mrs.) Goindi turned a staunch Gandhian given to non-violence and other Gandhian tenets in 1959 on marriage into a devout Goindis Gandhian family.

6. Dr. S.S. Goindi was Secretary of the U.P. Nature Cure Federation from 1976 to 1979 and Secretary of All India Nature Cure Federation from 1979 to 1984.

7. Goindis’ property in Allahabad was burnt down in the riots that followed the assassination of Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India in 1984.
