Naturo-Food Therapy

BIRTH OF GOINDIS NATURO-FOOD THERAPY

Causes of Lifestyle Diseases

Goindis interest in natural diet all started when Mrs Gurkirpal Kaur Goindi’s Osteoarthritis problem became serious. She had this problem from the age of 15. After the doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi told her that it could not be cured, they went to Hyderabad for naturopathy treatment. That was the time when they got first hand knowledge about naturopathy and carried out extensive research into the subject. However, she developed even more serious problems of asthma, anaemia and digestive disorders that led to bleeding lungs and general debility. The doctors at that time had said that she would not live for more than 4-5 days. Instead of spending the last 4-5 days in the hospital, Mrs Goindi decided to stay at home and it was then in 1971 that the burning desire to see her recover from her many irreversible ailments made Dr. Satyendra Singh Goindi apply natural laws of nutrition on her. She came back from the very doorstep of death and was on the road to recovery within 12 days of sipping fresh unboiled milk to become an eminent naturo-food therapist herself. Thanks to her training in physical education, she became the author of a set of remedial exercises even for bed-ridden patients.

We are generally quite hale and hearty during our childhood. As we age, our unhealthy eating habits and lack of physical exercise and sedentary life become the prime causes of obesity and most lifestyle diseases

Wrong and irregular ways of eating; faulty selection of eatables and drinks; wrong cooking and frying; excessive use of oils/fats, salt sugar and refined foods; a very rich diet; overeating; lack of activity/exercise and rest/sleep; stressful lifestyle; environmental pollution and most importantly ignorance of NATURE are the potent causes of many lifestyle diseases including obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, raised blood cholesterol levels and heart ailments. Also allopathic medicines many a time interfere with the natural bodily process of removal of accumulated waste materials from the body and fill the internal system with toxins. Those who think they have no time for healthy eating and active lifestyle will sooner rather than later have to find time for illness.

Hijacking of Hippocratic Doctrine: Let Food be Thy Medicine

More than 3000 years ago the founder of modern medicine, Hippocrates of Greece had very appropriately said: “Let Food be Thy Medicine”. To this day doctors take the Hippocratic Oath in his name after qualifying. However over the ages this golden doctrine for healthy living has lost ground to the commercial interests of Pharmaceutical/drug companies whose medicines

liberally promoted and prescribed by the conventional doctors may alleviate the symptoms of the disease but invariably fail to remove the causes. Moreover it is accepted by the medical profession and the drug companies alike that conventional medicines often have harmful side-effects.

Resurrection of the Hippocratic Doctrine

Some seek fame and appreciation as the reward for their hard work. There are others who keep working towards their mission, keeping a low profile. Satyendra Singh Goindi (DOB 24-10-29) and his wife, Gurkirpal Kaur Goindi (DOB 25-01-32) belong to the latter category. This eminent husband and wife team of naturo-food therapists have successfully resurrected the Hippocratic doctrine. For the last over four decades, they have evolved an alternative human diet based on the twin attributes of original human diet, namely easy digestibility and good taste. Taste, they say, is an important attribute of food which triggers the digestive glands to secrete digestive juices, which in turn must get easily digestible food for making good blood fortified with natural resistance power. Thus begins the cycle for good health:  Good Natural Diet—> Blood with Natural Resistance Power —>Good Healthy Life

Food and Blood

Dedicated Gandhian Goindis couple, have established without any doubt that good natural food makes good blood and bad junk food makes bad blood, which is the root cause of a multiplicity of lifestyle diseases suffered by ever increasing numbers of human beings worldwide. The most simple and the basic principle of Naturo-Food Therapy is to replace the bad diseased blood with new healthy blood by consuming natural health-giving nutritional and tasty foods and beverages as a result of which overalls health improves. Foods in their natural form have immense immune-boosting and disease preventing and curing properties. A normal food plate should have rich “plant-based diets” comprising of seasonal and regional fresh fruits, vegetables and green salads (preferably organic) sprouted/germinated whole grains and cereals, a portion of nuts and carminative herbs and spices.

Naturo-Food Therapy as a Way of Life

Naturo-Food Therapy has been steadily gaining popularity throughout the world in recent times. Most people of course, turn to it as a last resort having tried unsuccessfully other modes of treatment. This is especially true of patients suffering from acute and chronic diseases. Naturo-Food Therapy should be a way of life in both health and disease; a way of simple, natural living as ordained by the founder father of modern medicine, Hippocrates. Its philosophy is based on the fact that we are a product of Nature and that our interest are best served by Nature to play its full part in our lives.

Mostly all form of disease have only one cause; accumulation of excessive alien harmful material (impurities) in the body which it cannot absorb, remove or eliminate. Medicines/drugs many a time interfere with the natural process of removal of accumulated waste materials from the body and fill the internal system with toxins which often cause harmful side-effects.

Unlike modern medical practice, Naturo-Food Therapy concerns itself more with the removal of the causes than with fighting the symptoms of the disease. It concentrates on giving Nature full scope for removal of impurities, stoppage of further accumulation of them, and establishing a homeostasis (balance) between the various physiological processes of the body. Naturo-Food Therapy stems from the unique gift of Nature: that the body can heal itself provided we allow Nature to take its own course without hindering it by the unwise use of medicines/drugs and unhealthy eating.

Basic Tenets of Goindis Naturo-Food Therapy

The Goindis have developed a unique system of Naturo-Food Therapy based on the principles of Natural diet. This Therapy consists of treatment with a Natural vegetarian diet (mono-fruit to start with for a few days) of fruits, vegetables, green salads, nuts/seeds, herbs and simple preparations from germinated whole cereals and grains which are not only tasteful, nutritious and easy to digest but also have medicinal and health -giving properties through making new purified blood. Thus, the nutrient/antioxidant/fiber-rich diets mop-up harmful free radicals (toxins) and strengthen the body’s immune system which:

(a) strengthens the body’s ability to overcome virtually all kinds of existing and undiagnosed diseases,

(b) increases the body’s resistance to infections, and

(c) as a bonus slows down and even reverses the ageing process through the consumption of nucleic acid contained in germinated cereals and grains.

Natural Nutritional & Tasty Foods/Beverages

The Goindis, in the pursuit of their Health and Nutrition Mission, have developed numerous oil/fat-free vegetarian nutritional and tasty foods using germinated/sprouted cereals and grains. The Mission is to practically evolve cheap and nutritious foods of acceptable taste for the suffering people in general and for the under-privileged and poor sections of society in particular. These foods, to name a few, include sweet/salted biscuits, cakes, dosas, sambar, pizzas, koftas, dalia, porridges, naan breads, palak and other pakoras, dahi vadas, potato chips, germinated wheat halwa, pinnies of geminated moong/chana and many more. They have also developed a new range of hot and cold beverages/sweets especially for the children, such as rose/amla sherbets, kulfi/ice-cream made from milk of seeds like that of melon. A special drink “kafita” prepared from wheat has the aroma, colour and taste of coffee but without the ill-effects of caffeine. Another unique drink which can be taken hot or cold is made from sesame seeds which gives a tea-like colour and is nutrient-rich in calcium, some vitamins and essential amino acids. They have also perfected a very tasty herbal tea powder using over two dozen ingredients.
